The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)

TERI, established in 1974, is a unique country institution, deeply committed to every aspect of sustainable development. All activities in TERI move from formulating local and national level strategies to suggesting global solutions to critical urban development and infrastructure related issues. TERI has established regional centres in Bangalore, Goa, and Guwahati and has presence in Japan, Malaysia, Russia, and the UAE, TERI-NA; Washington DC, USA and TERI Europe, London, UK.

The specific research experience related to present assignments includes:

  • Plastic waste management for city of Delhi

The study involved establishing database on generation of waste plastic in different select locations in Delhi from household and commercial centres; preparing a status report on recycling of plastic waste in an around Delhi; monitoring health conditions and associated environmental impacts in some of the selected plastic recycling centres.

  • Techno-economic feasibility of management of hazardous waste in NCR region (around Delhi)

The study involved identification of different hazardous waste streams generated in the NCR region as per their treatability options (physico-chemical treatment, organic waste processing and incineration and land filling of inert and treatment residues); preparing scheme including financial package for common treatment and disposal and assessment of suitable location for development of disposal site.
