Miriam College |
Miriam College started its environmental thrust in 1973 through a module on
pollution in the seniors' curriculum. Since then, various innovations have led to the integration
of environmental education in all levels in the school, in and out of the classroom. The conversion
of Miriam's Environmental Education Centre to the Environmental Studies Institute (ESI) in 1998
opened a new chapter in Miriam's environmental history. It consolidates the academic, outreach,
and research programs of the institution thereby maximizing its effectiveness in terms of manpower,
facilities, and services. ESI is involved in a significant number of environment related activities
and research projects, providing education to its students and expertise to other organisations.
It also has experience in organising workshops and seminars. Miriam College is therefore a valuable
partner in the proposed project.
